Our Seafood Journey

When we moved to Calgary in 2014, my wife and I wanted to celebrate the excitement of our new careers with something that reminded us of home—a traditional seafood boil. But we quickly realized how difficult it was to find the same high-quality Canadian seafood we were so used to enjoying back in Newfoundland. That day, over the disappointment of not being able to find what we craved, we made a promise: one day, we would bring the very best of Eastern Canada’s seafood to families and businesses in the West.

Flash forward to 2021, and that promise became a reality with the creation of Coldwater Harvest. What started as a dream has grown into a family-run company built on two simple but important values: taking care of our customers like family, and providing only the very best seafood available on the market. Along the way, we’ve stayed true to our roots by supporting Canadian fishermen and processors—people who, like us, care deeply about their communities and the oceans that sustain them.

For us, sustainability isn’t just a buzzword. It’s a responsibility. We partner exclusively with trusted Canadian processors who share our values and are leaders in protecting the ocean and preserving healthy fish stocks for future generations. Every product we carry is certified sustainable and carefully monitored by independent international organizations.

And just as important is quality. Growing up in Newfoundland taught us what great seafood tastes like—firm, fresh, and full of flavor straight from the icy North Atlantic. Today, we work hard to bring that same standard to your table. All of our products come from CFIA-approved facilities and meet the highest Canadian inspection standards, so you can trust what you’re feeding your family.

At the end of the day, it’s about balance, respect, and coexistence with our oceans—and we take that seriously.

1. Sustainability

For Coldwater Harvest, sustainability is more than a buzzword. We understand the tremendous responsibility that we all shoulder when it comes to protecting our natural resources. That’s why we only source seafood that is harvested responsibility and we only deal with processers who share that view. We are fortunate to work with a group of Newfoundland seafood companies who are leaders in their field when it comes to protecting the oceans and ensuring that fish stocks remain healthy and robust for future generations. All our products are certified sustainable (the logos below provide some examples) and as part of that process are subject to rigorous monitoring by independent international organizations. Feel free to contact us directly for more specifics.

It’s all about balance, respect and coexistence….and we’re serious about that.

2. Quality

Growing up in Newfoundland, we acquired a taste for high quality seafood from the icy cold, pristine waters of the North Atlantic. Our goal is to deliver that same firm texture and mouth-watering taste to western Canada. To ensure we can consistently meet this important goal, 100% of our products are sourced directly from CFIA approved facilities, meet traceability requirements and are all processed in accordance with strict Canadian Food Inspection Agency protocols which qualifies all our products to bear federal registration numbers and/or the “Canada Inspected” logo.

Our goal is to deliver top quality seafood at competitive prices. You won’t be disappointed!
