Direct from the ice-cold waters of Canada’s Ungava Bay, bordering the Arctic Circle, we are proud to offer the deliciously tasting Pandalus Montagui shrimp. This close cousin of the more traditional Pandalus Borealis northern shrimp has recently become a commercial fishery in Northern Canada.
Ungava Bay is fully an Inuit Land Claims area and Makivvik Corporation (which represents the Inuit of Northern Quebec) is the largest quota holder in this area. In partnership with Newfoundland based Newfound Resources Ltd, Makivvik responsibly harvests this sweet tasting, emerging species which is rapidly gaining popularity with consumers worldwide. These shrimp are individually quick frozen at sea.
Preparation tips:
Simply peel and enjoy - these succulent shrimp require no flavour additives. Great additions to sandwiches, wraps, salads and tacos.
Helpful hints:
Throw the bagged shells in your freezer until compost/garbage day.
